24 New Bedford High School students taken to hospital for chemical exposure
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The mayor of New Bedford said 24 students were taken to the hospital Thursday morning after being exposed to chemicals in a science lab at the high school.
Mayor Jon Mitchell’s office said two students were experiencing mild symptoms, which prompted evaluation. The other 22 students were taken out of an abundance of caution.
Fire officials conducted air monitoring at the high school and determined it to be safe for classes to continue.
The incident is under investigation.
Mitchell’s office said that as of 2 p.m., all students were released from the hospital.
