Two arrested after highway drive-by shooting

Two teenagers have been charged in a drive-by shooting on Route- 195 that may be in retaliation to other gang violence.

State Police say at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, the female victims car was driving west on in Providence when a dark colored Nissan pulled alongside her vehicle and fired several shots into the vehicle. She was not injured.

An investigation led police to arrest 18-year-old Damani Hazard who was allegedly driving and a 17-year-old passenger who was allegedly the shooter.

State Police believe this was gang related following the murder Friday night of 22-year-old Kevin Mann outside the Pasha Hookah Lounge in Providence.

Hazard was arraigned Tuesday on charges of conspiracy to Commit a Felony Assault, Conspiracy to Commit a Drive-By Shooting, and Conspiracy to Use a Firearm While Committing a Crime of Violence. He was held on $20,000.00 surety bail

The juvenile is being at the Rhode Island Training School pending a detention hearing on the charges of Felony Assault, Drive by Shooting and Use of a Firearm while Committing a Crime of Violence.
