Two arrested in Fairhaven on drug, assault charges

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WLNE) — Two suspects were arrested on drug and assault charges Monday afternoon, according to Fairhaven police.

James Williams, 40, of Lakeville, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Ryan Reynolds, 43, of Acushnet, is charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking fentanyl and distribution of a class A substance (fentanyl).

On Monday at approximately 12:30 p.m., Fairhaven detectives witnessed a potential drug deal in the parking lot of the Seaport Resort and Marina.

When officers approached the subjects, Reynolds exited Williams’ Rav 4 and was apprehended by police.

Williams allegedly attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle and drove aggressively toward an officer.

He drove the vehicle to the rear section of the Middle Street parking lot and was apprehended.

Detectives seized over 28 grams of cocaine, over 15 grams of fentanyl and $900 in cash.

Both suspects were arraigned Tuesday morning in New Bedford District Court.
