2 construction workers hurt after being trapped under roof trusses

ACUSHNET, Mass. (WLNE) — Two construction workers were hurt after they were trapped by roof trusses Tuesday in Acushnet.
Acushnet Police Chief Chris Richmond said the incident happened just before 3 p.m. at a Perry Hill Road home as the two workers were installing roof trusses on a garage under construction.
At some point, the trusses collapsed and the two men fell 12 to 14 feet and were trapped under the falling trusses, Richmond said.
Additional workers on site had a crane operator remove the trusses from trapped men and Acushnet police and fire assisted once they arrived and they were able to free the men.
Richmond said the workers were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with serious injuries, but both were conscious and alert.
OSHA and the town’s building inspector are also investigating.
