Two hospitalized after double shooting in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Police Department is investigating a double shooting that landed two people in the hospital early Sunday morning.

Police said that they responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Acushnet Avenue and Blackmer Street at about 4 a.m.

First responders found one gunshot victim at the scene and transported him or her to the hospital.

A second victim arrived at the hospital shortly after. Both were treated for non life-threating injuries.

The department said that the shooting is still being investigated as of 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
