Two injured in Block Island home explosion, collapse

BLOCK ISLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — According to the Block Island Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, an explosion occurred in a home Saturday afternoon.

There were five people inside of the West Beach Road home when it collapsed at approximately 5 p.m.

Three of them were trapped inside, and one person broke their femur.

Another person has second-degree burns and both were taken to an area hospital.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
