Two men arrested on drug & firearm charges in Blackstone

BLACKSTONE, R.I. (WLNE) – Police say they have arrested two Rhode Island men on drug and firearm charges after a traffic stop in Blackstone last week.

Chief Gregory Gilmore of the Blackstone Police Department says Ibraham Sylla, 23, and Billy Inthaphone, 30, of Woonsocket were taken into custody Friday evening.

Officials say they conducted a motor vehicle stop of an unregistered vehicle that was emitting an abnormally loud exhaust noise at 10:40 p.m. Friday.

Police found that both driver, Sylla, and passenger, Inthaphone, had active arrest warrants.

Both men were taken into custody without incident, and police say they found several small bags of cocaine and a semi-automatic pistol in the vehicle upon search.

Sylla and Inthaphone are charged with Possession of a Class B Substance, with the former also charged with Possession of a Firearm without a License, Unregistered Motor Vehicle and Equipment Violation.

Authorities say both suspects are expected to be arraigned Monday in Uxbridge District Court.
