West Warwick, R.I.- Two people have been arrested in conjunction with an overdose death in West Warwick. Michelle Farrell, 44, of West Warwick was found dead on June 25th in a wooded area behind 100 Pulaski St. Police determined that Farrell likely died of a heroin overdose at the residence of Robert Perry of 12 Eleanor Dr. in Coventry. Baker and Farrell were at the residence with Farrell’s boyfriend Lloyd Baker.
Rather than call for help Baker and Perry transported Farrell’s body to the wooded area behind 100 Pulaski St. in West Warwick and dumped it there.
Baker and Perry were taken into custody by Coventry Police and West Warwick Police for Failure to Report a Death. Both were held overnight until their arraignments where they were both presented as bail/probation violators.
“This is the type of scenario that the Good Samaritan Overdose Prevention Act was intended for, and this tragic ending may have been prevented, if only the defendants had called 911 for help,” said Colonel Richard G. Silva “While these defendants would have been afforded immunity under the Act had they sought medical treatment, instead, thought about themselves and attempted to trick authorities by concealing what had occurred. As a result, the opioid epidemic claims another life and continues its devastating effect on our society.”
