Two Rhode Island state beaches opening for weekends

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management announced that Scarborough North and Roger Wheeler state beaches in Narragansett will be open Saturdays and Sundays only until Memorial Day.

These openings are weather permitting and are meant to accommodate early beach goers.

There will be sufficient lifeguard staffing and bathrooms and amenities will be open.

The official opening of state beaches is Saturday, May 27 and they will remain open until Labor Day.

You can obtain 2024 state beach season parking passes here.

You can also purchase your pass in person at the Scarborough South State Beach overflow lot on the weekends of May 11-12 and May 18-19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., then Monday through Friday at the same hours starting Tuesday, May 28 through Friday, August 9.
