KINGSTON, R.I. –
Rhode Island senior linebackers Matt Hansen and Rob Damon added to their list of preseason honors as both were named All-America Honorable Mention by the Football Championship Subdivision Scout Bowl selection committee.

The FCS Senior Scout Bowl is a postseason all-star game showcasing the talent of senior players from the NCAA FCS Division football level.

This Bowl game is presented by the Collegiate Development Football League and will be held December 11, 2010 at the Joseph St. Lawrence Sports Complex Stadium, in Ramapo, New York.

Player selections for this showcase game begin with the announcement of the FCS Senior Scout Bowl All-America team following the 2010 season.

The preseason team recognizes the football achievements of players, who are entering their final season on the FCS level.

This past June, the two Rhody linebackers were received Preseason All-America honors by Consensus Draft Services. Hansen was named Second Team, while Damon earned Honorable Mention All-America.

In 2009, both Hansen (103 tackles) and Damon (124 tackles) surpassed 100 total tackles.
Damon's 124 stops were a CAA-best and his 14.0 tackles for loss ranked fifth in the CAA. Following the year, Damon was named Sports Network All-America and All-CAA Third Team.

In 2008, Hansen led the Rams in tackles (111), tackles for loss (13.5), sacks (3.0), interceptions (3) and forced fumbles (4). He enters his final season in Kingston just 102 stops shy of becoming URI's all-time leading tackler.
