Two woman, young boy held during home invasion early Friday morning

Two women and a child were held against their will and assaulted during a burglary at their home on Elmdale Avenue early Friday morning.

Police say patrol officers were flagged down by a woman at around 3:30 a.m. who told them her house was broken into by two men in dark clothing.

The woman told police the men broke into the house, assaulted and tied her up in a bedroom, while assaulting another woman with her young son present.

Police say one woman had a bruised eye and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. The other had a laceration to her leg and was not transported.

Police say the men took off with a few items. The investigation is ongoing.
