Two year old boy found dead in an uncovered pool in Coventry

COVENTRY, RI (WLNE) – A two-year-old boy has died after he was found unresponsive in an uncovered pool Wednesday afternoon.
Both Coventry police and firefighters were called to a home on Knotty Oak Shores to investigate a report of a missing two-year-old boy around 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.
When first responders arrived they found the boy on the property and immediately took him out of the pool. The child was unresponsive, and CPR was immediately administered, police say.
The two-year-old boy was later transported to Kent County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say a subsequent investigation revealed that the child was in the care of both of his parents when he climbed out of a first-floor bedroom window, and made his way to the uncovered pool. A ladder was left in the pool, allowing the boy to access the water.
DCYF is investigating but no charges have been filed at this time, according to police.
