Uber, United Way offering free rides to Rhode Island vaccine sites

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Governor Dan McKee announced Monday Uber has partnered with United Way of Rhode Island to provide free rides to vaccine sites.
Rhode Islanders can call 2-1-1 to arrange a complimentary round trip Uber to any vaccine site in the state. United Way will give the recipient promotional codes that can be entered directly into the Uber app.
Those who do not have a smartphone, or access to the app, will have their Uber arranged on their behalf through United Way 2-1-1.
“We are proud to partner with Governor McKee and United Way of Rhode Island to support vulnerable populations across the Ocean State,” said Hayley Prim, Policy Manager for Uber. “This partnership is a milestone in our larger commitment to provide 10 million free or discounted rides to those in need across the world to ensure transportation is not a barrier to accessing the COVID-19 vaccine.”
All promotional codes through Uber will be valid through September 30.
