Uncle Tony’s in Cranston closed due to health violations
CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health said that Uncle Tony’s in Cranston voluntarily closed after a health inspection on Wednesday found several violations.
The report listed eight violations which included:
- An employee touching prepared food with bare hands;
- A large bag of salt containing rodent urine and droppings;
- Rodenticide observed in open containers near the storage room;
- The presence of rodents and cockroaches;
- Trapped vermin on glue boards in the kitchen;
- Multiple non-food contact surfaces with an accumulation of debris;
- Multiple facilities in poor repair;
- Floors had an accumulation of rodent droppings, food debris, and soil residue.
“A reinspection will be required before any reopening happens,” RIDOH Public Information Officer Joseph Wendelken said. “And before any reinspection, we would review reports from a pest control firm that will go in. This is on top of the sanitizing that would need to happened.”
