Underground cable failure leaves thousands without power in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE): Thousands of residents were without power on Saturday. 

According to a spokesperson for the National Grid, an underground cable failure on Smith and North Main St. is to blame. 

Before 4 p.m. at its peak, there were 6,7000 outages reported. 

Crews are still working to restore power.
