Unemployment rate down, number of RI-based jobs also down

The unemployment rate in Rhode Island dropped in February, bringing it to its lowest level since January 2008.
The RI Department of Labor and Training announced Thursday that the February 2015 rate was down to 6.3%, down from both January 2015 and February 2014 rates.
In the report, officials say that the number of RI-based jobs is down 2,700, which erases the gain of 2,400 jobs added in January.
The unemployment rate nationwide was 5.5% in February.
