University of Rhode Island dresses Rhody the Ram as Taylor Swift ‘Eras’

KINGSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Each year, the welcome center team at the University of Rhode Island dresses up the Rhody the Ram statue for Halloween.

This year, students brought Taylor Swift’s “Eras” Tour to life, following a highly successful year for the artist.

“It is a social moment for everyone. The tour has been a huge thing going on all this year, and of course all the stuff going on with the NFL — Taylor Swift is everywhere, we figured we would throw Rhody into the mix, as well,” said Stephen Ferguson, admission advisor at URI.

The statue sits on Upper College Road outside of the welcome center and got “Bejeweled” for all to see.

“It is just a fun way for everyone to get involved and lean in on it and just have fun today,” said Robin Noel, information aid at URI.

Erin Brown, senior at URI said, “I am the ‘Lover’ era. I found these sunglasses and decided this would pick my entire outfit.”

She was excited to see her campus embrace Halloween and her favorite singer at the same time.

“I think Taylor Swift is a really creative way to do this. Especially since she is the star of the show this year. This is definitely a fun way to end senior year for sure,” Brown said.

The Swiftie craze didn’t end with Rhody.

Welcome center employees and URI tour guides were decked out in their “Eras” costumes — and, of course, gave out friendship bracelets.
