HURRICANE ERIN UPDATE: The hurricane is still expected to remain well offshore and pass us by to the east by hundreds of miles. Even though it will not make landfall in the continental US, we are going to see profound coastal impact here. A HIGH SURF ADVISORY has been issued for all coastal areas of Southern New England through 8pm Thursday. Waves are expected to increase to 6-10 feet. This means we will have life-threatening swim and surf conditions as well as localized beach erosion. Splash over flooding is possible for Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Offshore seas are expected to build to 9-14 feet and with offshore winds, vessels could capsize or be damaged and visibility will be lowered.
