Unsettled week taking shape, beginning with wintry mix to snow later Tuesday

Temperatures will shoot up after that, reaching 50 by the end of the week

PROVIDENCE R.I. (WLNE) — After a beautiful (and finally warmer!) Monday, we are heading into an unsettled remainder of the week.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected tonight.

Other than some breaks of sun in the morning, clouds will hang tough through the afternoon, and wintry precipitation will move in late in the day with temperatures in the upper 30s.

This will change to all snow by nightfall and into early Wednesday morning before tapering off.

Any lingering moisture will change back to sleet or rain.

Most of our area will see a coating to little over 1″ in accumulation, but far north and west higher elevations could be looking at a bit more.

Wednesday will be on the cloudy but quiet side with some sprinkles, but steadier and heavier rain moves in Wednesday night through Thursday.

Temperatures also rise from the low 40s to mid-50s by Friday.

The weekend is a bit split, with Saturday being the pick – sun and clouds and highs just shy of 50.

Sunday has some uncertainty, with another storm coming in at some point.

Stay tuned for updates there as rain could turn to snow Sunday night.
