Unsolved homicides in Providence in 2014

With just days left until the new year, the Providence PD is working around the clock hoping to solve the city’s open murder cases from 2014.

Of the 20 cases, 11 people have been arrested and charged. “The other 9 some we are pretty confident that we will clear those still some investigation needed, “ says Captain Michael Correia.
But while they’re making progress, they’re also facing some hurdles. Getting people to cooperate in the cases, isn’t easy. “No matter how good a police department is can’t solve crime alone we need the help of witnesses’ citizens’ people who live in the neighborhood, “ says Correia.
Their main focus, taking illegal guns off the streets. So far this year, they’ve collected 100 firearms.
