The number of Boston College students who got sick after eating at a Brighton Chipotle has now risen to 120.
This time E-coli is not to blame, but instead something just as nasty – the norovirus.
Instead something just as nasty…
It’s still uncertain if an employee who came to work sick last week is related to the outbreak.
Meanwhile the E-coli investigation continues at Chipotle restaurants nationwide, with illnesses in nine states – New York being the closest one to us.
The RI Health Department tells me there are no incidents reported here.
Boston Inspectional Services Commissioner William Christopher announced the results of an investigation into that Chipotle on Tuesday.
“Upon entry to the establishment the inspector did identify 3 violations…”
The investigation was launched Monday after BC students said they felt sick after eating there.
Chipotle is calling this an isolated incident not related to the E-coli outbreak.
Rather, it’s norovirus – a highly contagious virus spread by an infected person. Reports say that an employee at the Cleveland Circle Chipotle came to work sick last Thursday.
"I’m upset that any establishment would allow somebody in who was sick and did not follow protocol …anyone who has those symptoms is not supposed to be working, " says Christopher.
