UPDATE: 20-year-old Portsmouth man killed in crash

A Portsmouth man is dead after his car crashed into a tree Tuesday night.

The accident happened on Turnpike Avenue at the intersection of Gordon Street just after 6:30 p.m.

Police say 20-year-old Raymond Oliver, of Portsmouth, was driving south on Turnpike when his vehicle crossed the double yellow lines and struck a tree. He was taken to St. Anne’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.
