UPDATE: CEO of RIPTA resigns following hit-and-run charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority’s CEO Scott Avedisian announced his resignation Thursday.

The resignation was prompted after Avedisian allegedly hit another car at a McDonald’s and fled the scene back in March.

Last week, Gov. Dan McKee asked the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority to review the facts around CEO Scott Avedisian’s auto accident case.

Thursday, the RIPTA Board of Directors held a meeting at its headquarters, where Avedisian resigned.

The board will hold a public meeting Tuesday to finalize the decisions made.
