UPDATE: Fall River man stabbed in his own car in attempted robbery

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Officials shared with ABC 6 that aorund 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a 62-year-old man was stabbed in Fall River.
The man told police officers that he was in his car on the 200 block of County St. when he was approached by an unknown male who asked him for money and a ride.
After short conversation, the suspect lunged himself through the passenger side window.
The victim said he thought he was being robbed and was able to fight the suspect off of him.
After the victim was able to get away, he realized he was bleeding.
He encountered a police officer stationed at Ruggles Park and flagged him down for help.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries to his hand and chest.
The case is being investigated by officials.
