UPDATE: Initial suspects ‘tricked’ into lawnmower purchases with stolen card

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WLNE) — Fairhaven police have announced that two men shown in surveillance footage of a town hardware store unwittingly participated in purchasing five lawnmowers with a stolen credit card.

The incident occurred at Rocky’s Ace Hardware on Huddleston Avenue approximately three weeks ago, according to a Fairhaven police social media post.

An updated post from Fairhaven police stated:

UPDATE: THE INCIDENT HAS BEEN SOLVED. I WILL BE REMOVING THE PHOTOS OF THE INDIVIDUALS AS IT APPEARS THEY WERE ALSO TRICKED INTO TAKING PART IN THIS SITUATION. THEY HAVE BEEN SPOKEN TO AND THIS IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION!!
