UPDATE: Mass. State Police investigating shooting death of 19-year-old in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Detectives with the Massachusetts State Police and New Bedford Police are actively investigating a homicide which occurred off of Acushnet Ave. last night.

At around 10 p.m., New Bedford Police responded to a call in the area of Acushnet Ave. and Griffin Court, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

Upon arriving at the scene, police located a 19-year-old male in a black Hyundai Sonata parked on the east side of Acushnet Avenue with a gunshot wound in his head.

The vehicle was also found to have multiple bullet holes.

The victim was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The investigation into the death is still ongoing and “extremely active.”
