UPDATE: New Bedford shooting investigated as homicide

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE)– A man is dead following a shooting in New Bedford on Monday night, and the New Bedford Police have begun a homicide investigation, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office.

At around 9:10 p.m., the New Bedford PD responded to the area of Bedford Street and South Seventh Street for a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, they located the victim, 21-year-old Kimberl Gedeon, who was transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

Gedeon was pronounced dead at the hospital.

New Bedford Police have not identified any suspects in the case thus far.

Their investigation remains “extremely active.”
