UPDATE: No criminal conduct in case of North Kingstown boy left on school bus

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — North Kingstown police responded to 100 Fairway Drive on Tuesday for the report of a small child who wandered into the Municipal Office Building.

Arriving officers were able to quickly identify the four-year-old boy and contact his mother, according to North Kingstown police.

The mother was able to take custody of the child without incident after promptly responding to police.

An investigation determined that the child is a student enrolled at the North Kingstown School Department’s extended year program and had boarded the mini-bus Tuesday morning.

The boy was unintentionally left on the bus which was then driven back to the bus yard on Fairway Drive.

The driver and monitors exited the bus with the child still inside.

The child exited the bus and was located by a municipal employee.

The police investigation determined that there was no criminal conduct.
