UPDATE: North Attleboro FD lifts temporary closure of Emerald Square Mall

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The North Attleboro Fire Department on Monday lifted the temporary closure of the Emerald Square Mall that was prompted by a weekend roof leak.

Chief Christopher Coleman met with inspectors to conduct a mall walkthrough Monday, with mall management presenting several mitigation measures and future plans to resolve water leaks.

Chief Coleman lifted the closure due to the lack of a threat to public safety, according to the Town of North Attleboro.

The closure occurred Sunday at approximately 1:30 p.m. after the fire department received notice of a triggered alarm caused by a water leak through a detector.

This affected lighting fixtures and restrooms on the mall’s third floor.

Snow and ice accumulation were the case of the leak, according to the statement from the town.
