Update: North Dighton man accused of leaking classified secrets pleads guilty

BOSTON, Mass (WLNE) — A 22-year-old Air National Guardsman has pleaded guilty in federal court on charges of leaking highly classified military documents.

Jack Teixeira, who leaked the secrets on social media, including documents about Russia’s war with Ukraine and others, agreed to a 16-year prison sentence, pending his official sentencing scheduled for Sept. 27.

He had been charged with six counts of willful retention and transmission of national defense information.

As part of the deal, prosecutors agreed not to charge him with additional counts under the espionage act.

Teixeira was arrested in April 2023 and has been in custody since then.
