UPDATE: Pedestrian struck by car in Cumberland in stable condition

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — Cumberland police released additional information in the incident of a struck pedestrian that occurred Wednesday night.

The incident occurred on the 200 block of High Street at 6 p.m., where a 42-year-old male was hit by a car while crossing the street with a family member.

The male suffered significant injuries to his lower extremities and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, according to Cumberland police.

The victim is in stable condition at this time.

Police are still investigating the incident and at this point do not believe speed or distracted driving were factors.

The driver remained on the scene and was fully cooperative with the investigation.
