UPDATE: Police respond to call of stabbing in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Police said they were called to Broad Street and Haskins this morning after they received a call for a stabbing.

The alleged victim, who would not cooperate with police in regards to the incident or suspect description, had a severe  laceration to his hand and scrapes to his knees.

The injuries were sustained after a failed attempt of climbing a nearby fence to flee from officers.

Police said the alleged victim was under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, and at the time of their report, did not have a complaint to file.

He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
