UPDATE: Providence man arrested in fatal Dighton hit-and-run incident

DIGHTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A Providence man has been arrested for a hit-and-run incident that happened on Route 44 last week, which left one man dead.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney, Michael Laboy, 19, was arrested Thursday at his place of employment in Taunton.

Laboy is being charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash-Death Resulting and is set to face a judge today.

On April 4, an off-duty Taunton Police Officer observed a man laying in the breakdown lane of Route 44 in Dighton.

The officer contacted Dighton Police around 10:00 p.m. Officials responded to the scene and launched an investigation.

The victim, identified as Paul DeMoura, was transported to Morton Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
