UPDATE: The two teens were found safe after 10 a.m. in Andover after their snowmobile got stuck. Sometime after 7:30 Monday evening, the boys got lost and their snowmobile became stuck in deep snow on a side trail near South Arm. The pair tried to find fire-starting material in a nearby shed but were unsuccessful. They found a small shelter to stay in for the night until a passer-by found them the next morning and brought them to Ty’s grandfather’s camp. The boys were reported to be hungry, but in good health.
Authorities in Maine are looking for a pair of 15-year-old Rhode Island boys who set out on a snowmobile but never arrived at their destination.
The Maine Warden Service says Ty Howard-Gotto, and his friend Jonah May, left the town of Mexico at about 7:30 p.m. Monday headed for a relative’s home in nearby Andover. They were expected to arrive at 10 p.m. but never showed up.
The boys were riding an orange 2007 Arctic Cat Crossfire snowmobile.
Ty is thought to be wearing a black and red snowmobiling suit while Jonah is believed to be dressed in black and yellow outer clothes.
Game wardens are asking anyone with information about the boys’ whereabouts to contact them.
