UPDATE: Several hospitalized after gas leak in North Attleboro, one in critical condition

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — Seven people were hospitalized after an ammonia gas leak at an industrial building in North Attleboro.

One of those individuals is currently in critical condition, according to Fire Chief Chris Coleman.

The building currently houses a JT Inman Co., a manufacturing company for silver.

According to officials, a call came in around 10 a.m., with multiple agencies responding to the scene from outside cities and towns.

The scene was activated as a Tier 1 incident, and was quickly escalated to a Tier 2 response as the state’s Department of Fire Services arrived on scene.

Officials said a line was accidentally cut while work was being done around a 2,000 gallon storage.

Coleman said that the North Attleboro Fire Department was able to cut off the line, however hazmat crews are making their way into the building to make sure there’s no additional shut-offs associated with the tank.
