UPDATE: Smithfield police identify swimmer who drowned in town pond
SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Smithfield police have identified the Providence man who drowned Tuesday night in Georgiaville Pond after being reported missing by a friend.
Timmy Mouch, 31, was reported missing at 9:15 p.m. after last being seen in the water several hours prior.
Smithfield Fire Department and mutual aid personnel were assisted by the Smithfield emergency management and police in the search for Mouch.
Mouch’s body was discovered in the water at approximately 9:55 p.m. and he was brought to shore where he was pronounced deceased.
The incident is being investigated by Smithfield police as an accidental drowning, and anyone with information in this case is asked to contact Smithfield police at 401-231-2500.
