UPDATE: Steward Health ordered to sell hospitals by end of June
BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A judge ordered this week that Steward Health Care has until the end of June to sell its hospitals.
Steward Health Care, one of the largest hospital operators in the state of Massachusetts, filed for bankruptcy on Monday.
On Monday, Governor Maura Healey announced that the state would be activating an “Emergency Operations Plan.”
According to The Boston Globe, the decision was made by a bankruptcy judge.
Steward’s lawyer said the timeline may to sell all 31 hospitals may not be feasible.
Steward Health Care operates Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River and Morton Hospital in Taunton.
