Update: Victim’s name released in fatal New Bedford crash

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police released the victim’s name who was involved in a deadly crash on Sunday afternoon.

State troopers responded to a single-car crash on March 10 around 3:15 p.m. on Washburn Street, where a driver struck a utility pole.

It was found that Jeffrey Szynal, 46, of New Bedford, suffered a medical episode and lost consciousness while driving.

Szynal was transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Another passenger was involved in the accident but did not suffer any injuries, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation.
