ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The Attleboro Fire Department has confirmed that a weekend fire at a multi-family home is being investigated as suspicious.

The fire occurred Saturday morning at approximately 3:30 a.m. when Attleboro fire crews responded to the three-story, two-family home at 163 County Street.

Arriving Attleboro FD personnel encountered an exterior fire on the rear deck of the building, which had spread to the house, according to Attleboro Fire Department Chief Scott T. Lachance.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire within minutes of arrival.

A kitchen area of the residence sustained mild smoke damage, and two occupants were displaced.

They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The fire is being investigated by the Attleboro Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit and Massachusetts State Police fire investigators assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office.
