Update: Whale stranded in South Kingstown has died
SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — A fin whale stranded in South Kingstown has died, according to Meagan Seacor from Mystic Aquarium and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management.
The decision was made to use medical intervention to end its prolonged suffering.
The 40-foot whale was first spotted Thursday morning around 6:30.
The situation was a very unique one as the whale was in a very difficult spot, in shallow waters with sand bars around it, and only one channel in and out.
