URI Community Responder Program Offers Online Courses

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – The URI Community First Responder Program is moving entirely online and offering free education and resources to rural communities next week, to help combat the opioid crisis.
Any eligible community member can choose from one of four free live seminars and will learn how to recognize and respond to an opioid-related breathing emergency.
Participants who complete the one-hour training will have the option to be mailed a free Narcan nasal spray kit and testing strips to check for fentanyl.
Eligible towns for participation include: Barrington, Bristol, Burrillville, Charlestown, Coventry, Cumberland, Exeter, Foster, Glocester, Hopkinton, Jamestown, Johnston, Lincoln, Little Compton, Middletown, Narragansett, Newport, New Shoreham, North Kingstown, North Smithfield, Portsmouth, Richmond, Scituate, Smithfield, South Kingstown, Tiverton, Warren, Westerly, and West Greenwich
