URI football player dies in car accident

Kingston, RI- URI has announced the death of one of its football players. Leo Vagias, 19, of Towaco, NJ died in a car accident in Mahwah, N.J. late Sunday night. Vagias and a passenger both died after being ejected from their vehicle after it overturned off I-287 South.

Vagias was set to begin his second year at URI in the fall and did not appear in any games during his freshman season. He was a kicker/punter for the Rams.
