KINGSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The University of Rhode Island Board of Trustees have unanimously approved a new five-year contract for President Marc Parlange.

The new term is subject to a contract being negotiated and finalized, and will run from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2029.

This decision was made after an extensive review by the board, required under board bylaws.

A broad spectrum of URI stakeholders was included in the process, including faculty, staff, students, alumni and external partners.

“In his first three years, President Parlange has introduced a comprehensive, forward-looking strategic vision for URI,” board chair Margo Cook said. “He has tirelessly engaged in campus and community life, cultivating an inclusive culture.”

Parlange is URI’s 12th president, and began his time at the university in 2021.
