URI proposes hiked tuition rates for both in-state and out-of-state students

KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The University of Rhode Island announced today that the Board of Trustees Finance and Facilities Committee recommended that the URI Board of Trustees approve the increased tuition rates for the next academic year.

A 3.6% increased tuition rate for in-state students and 3.9% for out-of-state students was proposed by the committee in Monday’s meeting.

The proposal of a 0.9% increase in undergraduate mandatory fees was also discussed in the meeting.

The URI Boars of Trustees is expected to consider the committee’s recommendation for increased rates at its Feb. 16 meeting.
