How It Happened
Fordham (8-8-4) found the back of the net just 57 seconds into the second half when Jannik Loebe hammered in a long throw in by Christopher Bazzini.
Rhode Island (13-5-3) had its chances to equalize as the Rams fired off 14 second-half shots, however most were blocked by a frustrating Fordham defense. Perhaps the best chance for the Rams came with less than five minutes remaining when junior Rainer Randell‘s shot went just over the crossbar to keep Fordham on top 1-0.
The loss drops URI to 5-3-1 in Atlantic 10 Championship matches while Fordham claims its second ever title – both of which have come against Rhode Island (1996, 2014).
