FALMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — A two-vehicle crash in Falmouth resulted in an overturned car, damaged utility pole and a small fire Monday morning, according to the Falmouth Police Department.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:21 a.m. in the area of the Geggett Road intersection, according to Falmouth Police Department Lieutenant Ryan Hergt.

Responding officers found an overturned Subaru Outback against the damaged pole and a heavily damaged Toyota Highlander in the road.

The driver of the Highlander was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by Falmouth fire personnel, who were also on scene to monitor the small fire that occurred when downed power lines made contact with roadside trees.

According to the early investigation by Falmouth police, the Outback crossed over into the Highlander’s lane and struck it.

The Subaru then struck the utility pole and overturned, and the Subaru occupant(s) fled the scene on foot, according to Lieutenant Hergt.

A Mashpee police K-9 unit searched the area, but was not able to locate the Subaru driver or possible passengers.

Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office personnel assisted in processing the scene and Falmouth police detectives are also investigating the incident.

The roadway was still closed as of 11 a.m.

Anyone with information in this incident is asked to call Detective Timothy Brandt at 774-255-4527, ext. 4663.
