Uxbridge police officer struck and killed while assisting motorist

UXBRIDGE, Mass. (WLNE) — An Uxbridge police officer has died after being struck by a car while assisting a driver overnight.

The officer was struck by a passing vehicle on Route 146, according to Massachusetts State Representative Steve Xiarhos of the 5th Barnstable District.

Route 146 Northbound in Uxbridge is shut down as investigators process the scene, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Massachusetts State Police and MassDOT are on the scene as well.
