Vacant home catches fire in Westport

WESTPORT, MASS (WLNE) – Fire officials say that the cause of a fire that destroyed a vacant home is currently under investigation.
The Westport Fire Department arrived at 10:38 p.m to 40 Oakland Avenue for a reported structure fire.
According to the department, a wood frame house was fully engulfed after first responders arrived.
Firefighters began to aggressively attack the fire and were successful in extinguishing it, with only minor damage to a nearby home.
Mutual aid was brought in from Dartmouth District #3 which provided a tanker and additional manpower to the scene.
The house, which was under renovation has been deemed a total loss by the department.
