Vacant New Bedford home catches fire for second time, fire department deems fire suspicious

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE)- A vacant three story house caught fire early on Wednesday morning for the second time this year.
Firefighters from the New Bedford Fire Department responded to Bonney Street at around 1:45 a.m., finding that the fire had already extended through the vacant home’s roof.
A second alarm response was called in order to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings.
The fire was put out without it spreading beyond the first building, the families from the adjacent homes did not have to be relocated.
No fire fighters or civilians were hurt during the fire.
The department is considering Wednesday morning’s fire to be suspicious.
