Van crashes into fire hydrant, sinks into ground
ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — A van crashed into a fire hydrant in Attleboro on Wednesday morning and caused a sink hole to open up.
Authorities shared with ABC6 News that around 10:15 a.m. Attleboro Police Department responded to a report of a van that crashed into a fire hydrant near County Street.
After the fire hydrant was struck, it began to flood the road and caused a sink hole to open up.
Area Photos Construction News shared photos on X of the van visibly submerged into the ground.
The 86-year-old driver allegedly passed out prior to the crash and was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
The Department of Public Works and water department responded to the scene to disconnect the hydrant.
They proceeded to take precautionary measures by salting the road, preventing it from icing over.
The incident is ongoing investigation.
